Hi friends! Welcome to Sandy Pines Campground in Kennebunkport, Maine!
Cameron and I have been coming to Sandy Pines since 2018 with our travel trailer. In fact, this was one of the first New England campgrounds we visited when we got our rig! It was pretty much love at first “hookup”. 🙂
Sandy Pines is great for families as well as those who travel with pups and everyone in between. The sites are incredibly clean, flat, and graveled with pebblestone. When it comes to camping – this is one of the nicest campgrounds we have stayed at!
One awesome thing about Sandy Pines is the location. It is located by Goose Rocks Beach which is just a short bike ride away. We like to park our kayaks down by the beach and lock them up on the kayak racks. We then bike down each day to go for a paddle without the hassle of having to get them off the truck each time. Goose Rocks Beach is my personal favorite beach in the Kennebunks. It has a feeling there that I can’t describe and the views are just magic. It’s also a great spot to kayak as it’s usually a bit calmer water on a non-windy day. Be sure to stop by The Tides Beach Club for lunch, dinner, or happy hour! We love to go to happy hour after a long paddle out in the ocean. 🙂
The RV campsites are graveled with picnic tables and a firepit. They are also well-spaced in between each other. You can see our camper and little red truck in the picture below. 🙂
For those who have always been curious about camping but remain hesitant to try it – a great option for you is glamping! They have some wonderful options for tent camping (I swear it’s like Harry Potter inside when you go in – you know that scene when they go into the tent and it’s a whole house?!). Here are a few fun options below – they are all different themes and you can read about them more on their website here.
They also have some really fun unique options for camping via vintage airstreams, campers, and even vans! You guys I can’t get over how cute these different options are for camping – I want to stay in all of them! I think this would also be so fun for a child’s birthday or even a teenager who loves the idea of #vanlife.
You will find camp maps throughout the property so that you can find your way. There will be lots of people walking there dogs, kids riding on their bicycles or playing on the different playgrounds that they have at the park. They also have a really lovely salt water pool area! I also love that they have super clean showers and toilets throughout the property as well the laundry facility, lobby to hang out in and the market.
Be sure to bring some s’mores items for your campfire at night! It’s always one of our favorite things to do and will you see campfires lit throughout the grounds as the sun starts to set.
Please do note that in the summer months there are lots of bugs and after all this is the great outdoors and camping! Be sure to bring some really good bug spray to get off those mosquitos! There is nothing worse than a itchy skin on a camping trip. 😉
We visited in the fall for this trip and we love to visit a few farms when we are in town! Snug Harbor Farm is a must-do experience as there are birds and animals around the property as well as a large gift shop and an amazing arrangement of plants, succulents and other items!
Another really fun and festive place to visit is Wallingford Farm in Kennebunk. This is just a few minutes outside of downtown and every fall they have a beautiful display of pumpkins for sale as beautiful mums and other garden delights. We also love to go inside and see what goodies they have for sale each year or freshly baked pies! I really like to look through their Maine canned food items like their jams, BBQs, and spices.
Whenever we visit the Kennebunks we always leave a little bit of our heart behind with it. It’s just a magical little town with so much heart and sweet things and people to see. I can’t recommend Sandy Pines campground enough for those looking for a true outdoor experience this summer or fall!
